Nikon Aperture Locking Switch
This is happening to, I have been using non cpu lens then I thought I get a Af 28-105 mm Nikon. More about the author There is a small switch that you can flip that will lock the camera lens at its minimum aperture. Each of the pins on a CPU lens is spring loaded and should spring in and out freely. I have not used my D90 camera much since I got it (had 2 kids, work full time etc) and I keep it in my case and baby it. Nikon D80 Error Message

The lens needs to be set on the smallest aperture, typically f/22 on the ring since the camera controls the aperture. I had looked at it before but was looking from wrong angle.
